HIMSS25: Reflecting on a Successful Event

HIMSS25 was held last week, and what a show it was! More than 30,000 attendees descended on Las Vegas for the biggest healthcare technology conference of the year. I attended the show, along with several of my Dimensional Insight colleagues. Here are some of the highlights of the show from our perspective.

Dimensional Insight at HIMSS

As we always do at HIMSS, Dimensional Insight exhibited on the show floor. It was great to meet with healthcare technology leaders and learn about their challenges and what they are looking for in analytics technology. We also got to show them some of our latest technology enhancements:

  • Personalization: We showcased new technology that allows users to create a personalized analytics environment catered to their roles and goals. For example, if you are a chief operating officer at a hospital, you can create a domain that includes only those measures and KPIs that are critical to your role, so that’s what you see when you log into the platform. This personalization enables users to feel more connected with the data (because it’s what they need to see and they don’t need to jump through hoops to get to it) and will therefore lead to increased use across their organizations.
  • Artificial intelligence: We have new AI functionality baked into our platform. We are currently using generative AI not only to enhance users’ understanding of measures and metrics, but also to understand a hospital’s unique organizational structure and be able to automatically apply appropriate measures and KPIs to that structure. Additional AI offerings include:
    • Integrated algorithms
    • AI-assist chatbot
    • Assisted analytics for automation
    • Formulaic measures, metrics, and indicators
    • Integration with AI and advanced statistical packages
  • Measures: We have more than 1,800 pre-defined measures and KPIs in our product. Those measures include metadata so users can always understand the exact definition. New this year, in addition to the AI functionality previously discussed, users can also view measures by role. This allows managers to easily see the measures that their direct reports are responsible for, and allows them to get a quick snapshot of performance on strategic indicators in very little time.

The attendee experience

The HIMSS show floor was buzzing, and it felt busier than it has since before the pandemic, which was great to see! I have been attending the HIMSS Conference since 2016, so I feel like an old pro at this point. But I was curious to hear from my colleague Irina Nebosenko about her first time at HIMSS. Here are Irina’s thoughts:

As a first-time HIMSS attendee, I’m struck by the sheer scale of the event—the Venetian Convention & Expo Center is massive, with a seemingly endless maze of exhibitors showcasing the latest advancements in healthcare technology. It’s inspiring to see how innovation is shaping the industry, and the energy of the conference is palpable. That said, HIMSS can also be physically and mentally demanding, especially with a packed schedule. For first-time attendees, preparation is key—having a well-organized calendar, wearing comfortable shoes, staying hydrated, eating well, and getting enough rest can make all the difference. My experience has been enjoyable, with a mix of educational sessions and time to explore, and it’s clear that this event brings together passionate professionals dedicated to the future of healthcare.

From my perspective, I attended a few meetings, but mostly sat in on the educational sessions to learn more about the big issues in healthcare and how healthcare organizations are moving forward despite challenges with staffing, finances, and technology.

Even though in many cases, hospitals are talking about new kinds of technologies, for the most part, the path to success is the same it’s always been.

  • Selecting the right projects to start with – those where you can measure success and can do so at regular intervals along the way.
  • Having sponsors willing to push change initiatives forward.
  • Working with the right technology partner that can collaborate with you and help you achieve your goals.

Evening events

The Dimensional Insight team kicked off HIMSS this year by attending the annual Best in KLAS awards ceremony and receiving our 11th Best in KLAS award! We continue to win this award year after year because we uniquely combine technical excellence with a personal commitment to customer success. Our employees care about our customers and work hand-in-hand with them to achieve results. And with a median 12 years of tenure on our staff, our customers have steady guidance from us instead of a revolving door of consultants. As always, thank you to our customers for helping us achieve Best in KLAS again!

And what would work travel be without a little fun? On Wednesday night at HIMSS, the Dimensional Insight team joined forces in an escape room to battle the zombies. Thankfully, we escaped!

See our enhancements for yourself

All in all, HIMSS25 was a very productive event. It had a healthy dose of “getting business done” with some fun sprinkled in.

If you’re interested in seeing any of our new technology enhancements in action, please get in touch by filling out a demo request form. We’d love to show you what we’ve been working on.

As for next year, HIMSS will be back in Las Vegas before moving on to Chicago in 2027. Hope to see you then!
