Next week, healthcare technology enthusiasts gather in Las Vegas for HIMSS25. As always, Dimensional Insight will be at the show to meet with others in the industry and to learn about all the latest trends in technology. Here’s what we’re looking forward to at the conference.
Hot topics
The hot topics on the agenda haven’t changed much from HIMSS24. But it will be interesting to see what progress healthcare organizations have made over the last year in these areas.
- Artificial intelligence: There are currently dozens of AI-focused sessions on the HIMSS25 agenda and a dedicated AI Pavilion with several vendors and a theater for presentations. What I’ll be looking for this year at the show – we’ve heard over the last several years about what companies hope AI can do or about the use cases they are investigating. I want to see which healthcare organizations are actually finding success with AI and what the valuable uses are.
- Cybersecurity: 2024 was a record-breaking year in cyberattacks, with nearly 700 healthcare data breaches that involved close to 200 million people in the U.S. That includes the Change Healthcare ransomware attack that affected more than 100 million people. That means cybersecurity is a critical technology priority for healthcare organizations this year. Even other types of tech will be closely scrutinized to ensure that they are secure and don’t introduce vulnerabilities that can be exploited.
- Health equity: There has been a lot of discussion this year both about public health and about the concept of equity. So the HIMSS Health Equity Forum, which is one of the show’s pre-conferences, is getting a lot of buzz. Sessions in this forum will focus on social determinants of health, equity in care, and improving accessibility to health services.
Beyond the booth
While Dimensional Insight will have a booth at HIMSS25 (booth #1054 if you’d like to stop by and visit us), we’re also looking forward to some of the activities outside of the four corners of our space.
- Best in KLAS awards: On Monday night, KLAS Research is handing out its annual Best in KLAS awards, and we are honored to be receiving our 11th award! This award demonstrates our commitment to our customers to help them make meaningful changes in their organizations, and we’re looking forward to celebrating this achievement.
- Networking events: It’s always fun at HIMSS to get reacquainted with old friends and meet some new ones as well. There are a ton of networking events on the agenda. The ones I’m most excited about: the HIMSS Opening Reception under the High Roller Wheel, and the HIMSS New England reception on Tuesday afternoon.
- Puppy park: Of course, I can’t talk about things I’m looking forward to at HIMSS without mentioning the puppy park! HIMSS introduced this feature in Chicago in 2023 – they brought puppies up for adoption into an enclosed area on the show floor. Let me tell you, there are few things better in life than being jumped on by puppies. I will have to make another stop there this year.
