Assigning Properties to Users and Groups
As a prerequisite for assigning properties, you need to decide on a method and define them. See Properties Overview and Managing Properties for how to create and work with properties.
This topic describes how to assign properties to users and groups. These properties are used to control who has access to various areas of the project's data.
NOTE: These procedures are not necessary when

To assign properties to a user:

Click the Users tab.

Select the user, and click Edit User. Alternatively, double-click the user.

Click the Properties tab.
Available
properties are listed.
NOTE:
-
<None> in the Assigned Values column indicates that the property has values, but no values are yet assigned.

Dimmed <N/A> in the Assigned Values column indicates that these properties have the values and user or group assignments in a property file.

Click <None> in the Assigned Values column for a property.
A list of
possible values displays.
TIP: You can adjust the size of the property list to view more items.

Click the Assigned To User check box for each value that you want to associate with this user.
NOTE: If appropriate for this user, you can click the <All Values> check box, and all property values are associated with the user.

Click anywhere in the Property Name column, to close the values list.
The property values are now associated with the user and appear in the
Properties tab for that user.

Save the tab.

To assign properties to a group:

Click the Groups tab.

Select the group, and click Edit Group. Alternatively, double-click the group.

Click the Projects and Properties tab.
Available
properties are listed.
NOTE:

<None> in the Assigned Values column indicates that the property has values, but no values are yet assigned.

Dimmed <N/A> in the Assigned Values column indicates that these properties have the values and user or group assignments in a property file.

Click <None> in the Assigned Values column for a property.

Click the check box next to each value that you want to associate with this group.
NOTE: You can check the <All Values> check box if appropriate for the group.

Click anywhere in the Property Name column, to close the values list.
The property values are now associated with the group and appear in the
Properties tab for that group.
