Workbench Menu Commands

This topic describes the purpose of each Workbench menu command. Workbench also has a series of shortcut icons below the Menu bar.

NOTE: Workbench is designed as a context-sensitive application and available menu commands and shortcuts depend on the active tab. In addition, you can often find helpful right-click commands as you work. For more information, see Context Menu Commands.

Workbench Menu Commands

Command Definition
File

New >

Project

Opens the New Project dialog box to begin the New Project Wizard. See Creating a New Project.

Folder

Opens the New Folder dialog box to create a new folder (parent folder defaults to currently selected folder).

Builder Description File

Opens the New Builder Description File dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new file (dsc is the file extension).

cPlan

Opens the New Spectre cPlan dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new cPlan (cplan is the file extension).

DIAL Script

Opens the New DIAL Script dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new script (dial is the file extension).

DivePlan

Opens the New DivePlan dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new DivePlan (dvp is the file extension).

DiveTab Module

Opens the New DiveTab Module dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new DiveTab module (divetab is the file extension).

Integrator Script

Opens the New Integrator Script dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new script (int is the file extension).
Measure Factory Opens the New Measure Factory dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new script (factory is the file extension).
Measure Factory Data set Opens the New Measure Factory Data set dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new script (factory-data-set is the file extension).
Measure Factory Plugin Opens the New Measure Factory Plugin dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new script (factory-plugin is the file extension).
Measure Factory Scope Opens the New Measure Factory Scope dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new script (factory-scope is the file extension).
Measures Script Opens the New Measures Script dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new script (measures is the file extension).

Production Script

Opens the New Production Script dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new script (prd is the file extension).
QuickView Set Opens the New QuickView Set dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new file (qvset is the file extension).

Spectre Build File

Opens the New Spectre Build File dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new file (build is the file extension).

Spectre Dive File

Opens the New Spectre Dive File dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new file (dive is the file extension).
Stamp Template Opens the New Stamp Template dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new file (stamp is the file extension).

Text File

Opens the New Text File dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new file (txt is the file extension).

Tunnel Script

Opens the New Tunnel Script dialog box for you to name and choose a folder for the new script (tnl is the file extension).

Open Project

Opens the Open Project dialog box for you to choose an existing project or create a new project. See Opening and Closing Projects.
NOTE: The Connection Needed dialog box opens first if there are no open connections.

Open File

Opens a standard Windows Open File dialog box for you to choose an existing file to open. A file type filter is available.

NOTE: This command is only available when a project is open.

Save, Save As, Save All Saves the currently opened files.
Close, Close All, Close Project Closes files or the entire project.
Open Connection Opens the Connection Manager dialog box. See Connections Overview.

Close Connection

Closes the active connection (prompts to save files before closing).

Load Session

Opens the Select Workbench Session dialog box to navigate to and choose a previously saved session ( wbs is the file extension). See Working with Workbench Sessions.

Save Session

Opens the Select Session dialog box for you to select the portions of the open session to save, then opens the Save Workbench Session dialog box to navigate to and choose where to save the session wbs file. See Working with Workbench Sessions.
Recent (Files, Projects, Connections) Allows you to quickly access recently opened files, projects, and connections. See Using Recent Menu Items.
Exit Closes Workbench.
Edit
Undo/Redo

Undo or redo the last action.

NOTE: In some editors (such as Production and Visual Integrator), the undo/redo action may include the last major change to a node or object.

Revert File Discard any unsaved changes and revert the file to the last saved state.
Cut/Copy/Paste Cuts, copies, or pastes the selected item.
Find In Files

Opens the Find In Files Closeddialog box where you can search at the folder-level or project-level.

Find & Replace

Opens the Find and replace Closeddialog box.

Find and Replace dialog

Go to line Opens the Go To Line dialog box, which allows you to enter a line number to help navigate through long files in a Text Editor tab.
EOL Conversions > Allows you to change end-of-line (EOL) conversions based on operating system type. Appears only for text editor tabs.
Automatic Layout Cleans up the task flow workspace by snapping objects into a neat grid. Appears only for Visual Integrator tabs.
Revert Changes To Object Reverts changes made to an object. Appears only for Visual Integrator tabs.
Refresh Columns Refreshes the columns displayed for objects. Appears only for Visual Integrator and Spectre Build tabs.
View
Reset View Refreshes the open tab and any associated Tool Windows.
Find Tab Opens the Tab Finder dialog box to allow for quick tab switching when you have many tabs open.
Show Start Page Brings focus to the Start Page tab (or reopens it if closed).
Mark Text > Allows you to mark portions of text in a Text Editor tab as well as navigate to marked text and clear marks. Appears only for text editor tabs.
Show Symbols > Allows you to turn on or off symbols and change how the symbols appear. Appears only for text editor tabs.
Show Line Numbers Allows you to toggle the display of line numbers on or off; includes the total number of lines displayed in the status bar—defaults to show. Appears only for text editor tabs.
Collapse/Expand All Allows you to collapse and expand the sections of a Text Editor tab.
Go to Next/Previous/Secondary Allows you to move through Visual Integrator objects. Appears only for Visual Integrator tabs.
Reset Visual Integrator Windows Refreshes the open Visual Integrator tab and Tool Window. Appears only for Visual Integrator tabs.
Encoding

Allows you to choose from various Closedtext encoding methods. Appears only for text editor tabs.

Encoding Options for Text Files

Run Allows you to run the current script. For some tabs, it is simply a Run command; in others, there are additional commands for testing, tracing, suspending, and aborting running scripts. Appears only for tabs that have a script (text or GUI) you may test and run.
Tools
Server Settings Opens Server Settings tab. See Server Settings Overview.
Project Settings Opens Project Settings tab. See Project Settings.
Preferences Opens the Preferences dialog box, where you can customize your Workbench and Diver Solution Tools settings. See Setting Workbench Preferences.
Version Control >

Accesses version control settings.

  • Commit—Opens the Commit dialog box where you can enter a message and commit the selected file or folder.
  • History—Opens the Show History dialog box where you can inspect the version history of the selected file or folder.
  • Add Ignore Pattern—Opens the Ignore Patterns tab where you can enter patterns (with wildcards) for which files to ignore and not include in the repository.
  • Status—Opens the Executing dialog box where you can observe the query and display of the status of the central repository.
  • Pull or Fetch from Remote—Opens the Pull/Fetch dialog box where you can choose between "Fetch" or "Fetch and Merge".
  • Push to Remote—Opens the Push dialog box where you can commit the branch to the central repository.
  • Clone—Opens the Git Clone dialog box where you can clone from the remote or local repository.

Launch DiveTab-PC Opens DiveTab-PC logged into the target DiveTab site for the current DiveTab connection. For non-DiveTab connections, opens DiveTab-PC login screen.
Extension Editor Opens the Edit Production Extension dialog box, where you can customize how Production works with various types of file extensions.
Help
View Help Opens Workbench Help in the default browser.
Support Opens the Dimensional Insight Support web page.
About Workbench Displays the About dialog box with version information.
