Editing Reports

To add an item to a report:

1. Unlock the report if it is locked.

2. Click the Add Item icon .

   The Add Item dialog box opens.

3. On the Data tab, select an Item Type.

   NOTE: Available item types depend on the report type, and options on this tab depend on the item type that you select

   Item	Description
   Dimension Name	Specify the name of the dimension that you want to add. Only dimensions that appear in the child tabular view are available.
   Dimension Value	Specify the name of the dimension whose values you want to add. Only dimensions that appear in the child tabular view are available. Select Skip Repeated Values in a MultiTab report to omit displaying a repeated value after the first instance. Select Start on new page to produce a report that inserts a page break between dimension values. Select Skip Others Row to omit the Others group row in the display. This option applies to dives that include a Group with Others action.
   Summary Name	Specify the name of the summary that you want to add. Only summaries that appear in the child tabular view are available. Select Use Summary Name from Model to use the summary name defined in the model if the name has been edited.
   Summary Value	Specify the name of the summary whose values you want to add. Only summaries that appear in the child tabular view are available. Summary Breaklevel determines if the report displays the summary total or dimension value subtotals. Select Ignore Focus/Group to display the totals of all values instead of focus or group subtotals.
   Others	Specify the name of a summary column whose subtotal for the Others group you want to add. This item type is valid only if the dive included a Group with Others action.
   Info Name	Specify the name of an info field that you want to add. Only info fields that are included in the child tabular view are available.
   Info Value	Specify the name of an info field whose values you want to add. Only info fields that are included in the child tabular view are available.
   Text	Enter a text string, text variables, or a combination of the two that you want to add. If you enter a text string, followed by a text variable, you must separate them with at least one space. If you enter a text variable, followed by a text string, you must separate them with at least two spaces. For more information, see About Text Variables.
   Parent Dimension Name	Adds the names of the parent dimensions to the report. Select All Parents to include the names of all parent dimensions and QuickViews that are associated with the dive. Select All Windows to include the names of all parent dimensions associated with the dive. Select All QuickViews to include all the names of parent dimensions in QuickViews that are associated with the dive. Select One Parent to specify a single parent dimension to add. Select Skip All Values Parents if All QuickViews is selected and you don't want the report to display anything when All Values is selected on the QuickView list.
   Parent Dimension Value	Adds the values of the parent dimensions to the report. Select All Parents to include the values of all parent dimensions and QuickViews that are associated with the dive. Select All Windows to include the values of all parent dimensions associated with the dive. Select All QuickViews to include all the values of parent dimensions in QuickViews that are associated with the dive. Select One Parent to specify a single parent dimension whose value you want to add. Select Skip All Values Parents if All QuickViews is selected and you don't want the report to display anything when All Values is selected on the QuickView list.
   Parent Dimension Name + Value	Adds the names and values of the parent dimensions to the report in the format Name: Value. Select All Parents to include the names and values of all parent dimensions and QuickViews that are associated with the dive. Select All Windows to include the names and values of all parent dimensions associated with the dive. Select All QuickViews to include all the names and values of parent dimensions in QuickViews that are associated with the dive. Select One Parent to specify a single parent dimension and value to add. Select Skip All Values Parents if All QuickViews is selected and you don't want the report to display anything when All Values is selected on the QuickView list.
   Parent Info Name	Adds an info field name related to a parent dimension.
   Parent Info Value	Adds an info field value related to a parent dimension.
   CrossTab Data CrossTab Header CrossTab Totals CrossTab Row Totals	These items are only available if the report was generated from a CrossTabular view. They can be used to specify the CrossTab data that appears in the report. You can specify a span of columns to be used (Start Column, End Column).
   MultiCrossTab Dimension Value	Available if the report was generated from a MultiCrossTabular view. Adds dimension values as a sub-column.
   MultiCrossTab Summary Name	Available if the report was generated from a MultiCrossTabular view. Adds the specified summary name to all sub-columns.
   MultiCrossTab Cell Value	Available if the report was generated from a MultiCrossTabular view. Adds the specified cell value to the report. You select the summary, breaklevel, and sub-column.
   MultiCrossTab Row Total	Available if the report was generated from a MultiCrossTabular view. Adds a total value for a specified row.
   MultiCrossTab Column Total	Available if the report was generated from a MultiCrossTabular view. Adds a total value for a specified column.
   Group Name	Adds the name of a named group (if there is one) associated with a specified summary.
   Group Dimension Name	Adds the name of the dimension associated with the named group (if there is one) associated with a specified summary.
   Group Value	Add the value of either the first or last member of a named group (if there is one) associated with a specified summary.
   Graphic	Adds a png, jpg, or bmp image to the report. In the Location box, specify a URL or path and filename for the graphic that you want to add. NOTE: DI recommends that the graphic be no more than 1/8 of a report page. Graphics cannot be resized in ProDiver, you must ensure that they are sized correctly before adding them to the report.

4. To customize the format of numeric items, click the Format tab, clear the Use Default Format check box, and set the format options.

   Item	Description
   Number of Decimal Places	Specify the number of decimal places that you want to display in formatted summaries. NOTE: A report cannot display more decimal places than the tabular view used to generate it.
   Do not display Zeroes	Select to omit 0 values from columns, displaying blank cells instead.
   Display Blanks as Zeroes	Select to insert 0 values in blank cells.
   Include Group (1000s) Separator	Select to include commas in numbers that have more than four digits.
   Special Formats: None	Select to omit special formatting.
   Special Formats: Accounting (Negatives in Parentheses)	Select to display negative values in parentheses.
   Special Formats: Currency	Select to display the value as currency for the specified Country.
   Special Formats: Percentage	Select to display the value as a percentage. Select Symbol Only to include % in the display, or if the value is less than one, select Adjust Values to multiply the value by 100 before adding %.

5. If the report is generated from a MultiTab, MultiCrossTab, or MultiTabMultiCrossTab display, it can include multiple breaklevels A breaklevel is a location in the report where the data breaks to create a subtotal before beginning a new section or page.. By default, the breaklevel order is determined by the dive path, but you can use the Breaklevel tab to set some options.

   Item	Description
   Breaklevel	Select Dimension to place the item at the specified dimension breaklevel. Select Page to place the item at the page breaklevel.
   Location	Select a location where you want to place the item. If you selected Dimension as the breaklevel type, select Body. If you selected Page as the breaklevel type, select Head, Head2 or Tail. If you want to place the item relative to its placement in the index, enter an index number.
   Attributes: Don't display only one row	Applies to Head and Tail locations. When selected, items do not display if there is only one row in the breaklevel.
   Attributes: Repeat on Page Break	When selected, the current breaklevel label appears on a new page if the page break occurs before all rows are listed.
   Attributes: Skip Blanks	When selected, blank items are omitted from the report.

6. Click the Position tab to specify where on the report the item is added.

   Item	Description
   Column	Select Column to add the item to a new column, or to an existing column that you specify in the list. Select Page Left, Page Center, or Page Right to specify the alignment of an item that you want to add to the top of the page. NOTE: If you select Page Left, Page Center, or Page Right, be sure to set the Style tab Justify Horizontal setting to match (Left, Center, or Right).
   Offset (Pixels)	Moves the item vertically or horizontally the number of pixels specified. Specify a positive number in the Horizontal box to add space to the left of a left-justified item or to the right of a right-justified item. Specify a positive number in the Vertical box to add space above the item.
   Column Fit	If the item is wider than the column: Selecting Wrap Words in Column wraps the text to the next line at the word level. Selecting Wrap Characters in Column wraps the text to the next line at the character level. Selecting Truncate in Column displays only the part of the item that fits and removes the rest. Selecting Fit to Page displays the part of the item that fits and hides the rest.

7. Click the Style tab to format the report with a pre-defined or customized style.

   Item	Description
   Style Name	Select a pre-defined style from the list or select Add Style to create a new style. NOTE: Selecting Add Style opens the Style Editor dialog box, which you can use to create a named style.
   Apply To	Select if you want the change to apply to This Item or This Style. NOTE: Selecting This Style affects all items that use the selected style.
   Justify	Specify the item alignment: Horizontal: Left, Center, or Right Vertical: Top, Center, or Bottom
   Type	Specify the item font style: Bold, Underline, or Italic.
   Line Spacing	Specify the amount of space between lines.
   Top Line	Inserts a line above the item. NOTE: This option does not apply to all Report types.
   Bottom Line	Inserts a line below the item. NOTE: This option does not apply to all Report types.
   Fonts	Opens the Font dialog box, which you use to specify font type, style, size, script, and the underline effect.
   Color	Opens the Color dialog box, which you can use to select a color.

8. Click the Text tab to include preceding or trailing text to the item being added.

9. Click the Border tab to customize cell borders and background color.

   Item	Description
   Cell Border	Select a row, and then select Row Top to add a top border to the row. Select a row, and then select Row Bottom to add a bottom border to the row. Select a cell, and then select any combination of Top, Left, Right, and Bottom to add a border to the cell.
   Background Color	Click Select to open the Color dialog box and select a background color. Select Color Entire Background to add the color to the report background. NOTE: If you are editing an existing item, Color Entire Background adds background color to the selected items only. Select Every Other Row to add the background color to every other row. Rows without added background colors have a white background. TIP: To ensure that the background color covers the entire row, on the Report toolbar, click the Preferences icon , and set Space between Columns to 0.

10. To set the added item as an active link, click the Link tab, and set the link options.

    Item	Description
    Use Link	Select to activate the link dialog box.
    Link Activation Type	Select a user action to activate the link: Single-click or Double-click.
    Link Type	Specify the type of link: HTML Link Column: The link is defined in the specified column. Command Line: Specify the command to be run. Window Reference: Links to a cBase or model window using the dive path and specified values. For more information, see About Window Dive References.

11. Click the Exception tab to define exception values and add indicators to the report that make them stand out.

    Item	Definition
    Range	Identify the Exception Source: Select Define Range Below if you are defining the exception values. Select Use Column Exception Values to use values that were defined in the tabular view using Edit Column > Options. Identify the Neutral Range values. Select Skip Neutral Range if you want to display exceptions only. Select a Direction to define Good exceptions.
    Display	Select Up/Down Arrow if you want the report to use arrows to indicate the exceptions. Select a Location for the arrows (left or right of the item) Select how arrows appear for items that are in the Neutral range. Select an arrow Style. Select Draw Outline if you want the arrows to have a black outline. Select Color Background if you want to use a fill color in the cell to indicate the exceptions. Select Color Foreground if you want to use a font color to indicate the exceptions.

To edit an item in a report:

1. Unlock the report if it is locked.

2. Right-click the item that you want to edit, and select Format > Edit Item.

   The Edit Item dialog box opens. It is functionally the same as the Add Item dialog box. For a description of the options, see Adding an Item.

To delete an item from a report:

1. Unlock the report if it is locked.
2. Select the item that you want to delete, and then click the Delete Item icon .

To add a column to a report:

1. Unlock the report if it is locked.

2. Do one of the following:

   • To add a column to the right of the last column, click the Add Column icon .

     Alternatively, right-click an empty area on the report, and then select Format > Insert Column.

   • To add a column in between existing columns, click the column reference label on the column to the right of where you want to insert a column, and then click the Add Column icon.

     Alternatively, right click an item in the column to the right of where you want to insert a column, and then select Format > Insert Column.

To delete a column from a report:

1. Unlock the report if it is locked.

2. Click the column reference label on the column you want to delete, and then click the Delete Column icon .

   

   

   Alternatively, you can right-click an item in the column, and then select Format > Delete Column.

The report edit toolbar has quick-access text format buttons that you can use to change the selected item's font, color, style, and alignment.

To change the width of a column, place the pointer on the right border of the column reference label until the cursor changes to a resize arrow. Click and hold the left mouse button while dragging to the width that you want, and then release.

NOTE: By default, the column width is sized automatically to fit the data. If you manually change the column width, the static width setting is saved in the marker and the auto-resize feature is disabled.

To move a column:

1. Unlock the report if it is locked.

2. Place the pointer on the column reference label, click and hold the left mouse button for a second. When you release the mouse button, a black line appears around the column.

3. Drag the column to another location and click the mouse to release the column.

   The column relocates.

To set report configuration preferences:

1. Unlock the report if it is locked.

2. On the Report toolbar, click the Preferences icon .

   The Report Preferences dialog box opens.

   

3. In the Space between Columns box, enter a number (in pixels) to define the size of the gap between columns.
4. Select Grid Lines if you want lines to display between the rows and columns.
5. Select Default to Screen Reports if you want to view the report in screen view instead of print view.
6. Use the Page Size box to select a legacy screen resolution.
7. Select Fit to Page if you want ProDiver to compress the report print view width to ensure that it fits on one page.
8. If needed, select a Page Size to adjust the resolution (in pixels) for a screen view. The Default setting uses the host computer screen resolution setting. The other settings are for legacy browsers that are not capable of auto-sizing.
9. Click Background Color to open the Color dialog box, which you can use to select a color for the report background.
10. Enter a value for Breaklevel Threshold Lines if you want to change the number of lines on the bottom of the page allowed before a forced page break.
