Creating Link Rules

Link rules allow you to bring data in from another data set.

To add a link rule:

  1. On the top of the Measure Factory Editor page, click Rules.

  2. On the upper right, click New.

    The ClosedNew Rule pane opens on the right.

  3. Select Link rule.
  4. Select a data set from the pull-down list.
  5. Select a link from the pull-down list.
  6. Click Create rule.

    The Closedlink rule is created and opens in the detail pane with the default name NewRule#.

  7. Enter a name for the rule, and click Green check mark to confirm your changes.

    If you want the link name to be different from the target data set, you can set it in the script by making use of the long form of the link tag syntax. ClosedFor example

    When set in the interface, it assumes the link name and target data set use the same name. This makes use of shorthand syntax in the underlying script.

    In this Closedexample, the link rule is Active Item Flag, and it is in the Inventory data set.

  8. Click the Edit icon The pencil icon., which is to the right of the Calc field.

    TIP: The Edit Expression dialog box offers context suggestions for correct syntax.

  9. Enter the ClosedSpectre expression in the Expression box.

  10. Click OK.

    The window closes, and the calc appears in the Closeddetail pane.

  11. Optionally, click the Edit icon The pencil icon., which is to the right of the Filter field.

  12. Enter the ClosedSpectre expression in the Expression box.

  13. Click OK.

    The window closes, and the filter appears in the Closeddetail pane.

  14. Optionally, expand the ClosedDocumentation double chevron to enter additional information about the rule.

  15. Click the blank space to the right of a field to edit it. When editing in the multi-line text boxes, press Ctrl+Enter or Shift+Enter to create a new line, or press Enter to apply your changes and exit edit mode.

    Click Green check markto confirm your changes or Red X to discard your changes.

  16. Optionally, expand the Governance section to enter notes regarding governance. For example, who is responsible for updates, or when it was last modified.When editing in the multi-line text boxes, press Ctrl+Enter or Shift+Enter to create a new line, or press Enter to apply your changes and exit edit mode.
  17. Save the tab.
