About Domains

A domain is a collection of measures, dimensions, filters, and QuickViews. A measure factory project can be set up with multiple domains, then users can toggle between those domains on DivePort pages that are configured to use them. This provides a way for users to quickly toggle between different portions of the data within a factory.

An enabled domain modifies each DivePort page with a header that allows users to select available domains and see which measure, dimensions, filters, and QuickViews are available for each domain.

NOTES:

  • Domains limit available dimensions when switching dimensions or diving in measures and analysis portlets to only enabled dimensions.

  • Domain filters filter the data in all data portlets. They also will limit the available options for QuickView portlets in the domain and on the page.

  • Domain QuickViews are displayed in the domains bar. These QuickViews affect all data portlets on the page regardless of action group.

  • If the same QuickView appears in the domain and on the page (regardless of action group), then the QuickView on the page will be hidden and the page will behave as if it is not there. Domain QuickViews override any other instances of the same QuickView on the page.

Macros

Domains make three macros available to use on domain-enabled pages.

Provides a comma separated list of measures. This can be provided as the value for a stamp portlet, and then DivePort will repeat the stamp once for each measure in the domain. It is DI best practice to use this macro on a page with the Responsive Grid layout.

Provides the first measure for the current domain, defined as the first listed measure sub-tag for the current domain tag. This can be used as a default measure for each domain.

Provides the first dimension for the current domain, defined as the first listed dimension sub-tag for the current domain tag or the dimension defined in the primary-dimension sub-tag. This can be used as a default dimension for each domain.
