More Information on Clients

For your convenience, here is a complete list of client applications that work with the DiveLine server software.

Bridge is the component used to manage access to your portals and web applications through a single URL. Users authenticate to the Bridge and are presented with all the applications to which they have access. Bridge supports Single Sign On (SSO) integration, and allows users to access 6.4, 7.0, 7.1, and other specific DI Applications, as well as other Web sources.

CellDiver is a Microsoft Excel® Add-In that allows a DiveLine user with a General or Advanced level of functionality to dive from an Excel-based Console, in order to pull data directly from a classic Model, DivePlan, Marker, DiveBook, or Tunnel file into an Excel spreadsheet. The user can then perform most Excel-based functions and some basic Diver functions directly in the spreadsheet. CellDiver does not support cBases.

DI-Broadcast is the solution component that provides scheduled or event-driven delivery of Diver Markers via email. A Job is created for each Marker. This DiveLine client is used by administrators as well as by power users.

DI-Config is a DiveLine client for Microsoft Windows. It allows a DiveLine administrator to maintain ACLs in the 6.4 DiveLine Namespace, and configure Broadcast. Maintenance of DiveLine users and groups, formally done using DI-Config, is now handled by server settings in Workbench or Help Desk.

DI-Controller was a Windows application that allowed you to examine the activity on a DiveLine server. This functionality is now part of Workbench.

DI-Launcher is a utility designed to support situations where a single machine has multiple versions of a Diver Solution client program, each of which connects to a different DiveLine server. There are two scenarios that DI-Launcher is intended to support: client versions with cross-compatibility issues and multiple client configurations that complicate launching one client from another. When properly configured, it launches the correct instance of the client for the new session.

DI-License-Admin is a utility for Microsoft Windows intended to facilitate license requests, install product licenses on Windows servers, and track licenses destined for Linux servers.

DI-Lookup Manager was a Windows application that allowed you to create and maintain lookup files. This functionality is now available in DivePort and Workbench. Current encryption requirements prevent the DI-Lookup Manager from working with version 7.1.

DI-ODBC (Dimensional Insight ODBC Driver) is an ODBC driver which can retrieve data from DiveLine. Once installed, ODBC-capable applications can use the driver to make queries against a DiveLine server. The driver can be used to query a cBase, cPlan, or Dive script. Queries are made using SQL syntax.

DI-Scheduler was a utility to schedule Diver Solution jobs and tasks. This functionality has been replaced by Productions job scheduling in Workbench.

DI-Updater is a Microsoft Windows application that allows a Server administrator to give a DiveLine administrator the ability to grant access to any file from the DiveLine server for end-users to download for offline use.

DIAL (Dimensional Insight Access Language) is a JAVA programming language designed to process, analyze, and distribute information contained in Dimensional Insight files. DIAL programs can find and flag exceptional data values by accessing and evaluating summary information. It sends the results out as email or saved files.

DiveMaster is used to create DivePlans to categorize and filter model and cBase data. A DivePlan specifies to the client software (for example, ProDiver and DivePort) how the data should be presented. DiveMaster is integrated into Workbench.

DivePort is the component used to build and display portals that present your Diver data and any other content you need to share over the web. DivePort is the primary display vehicle for Measure Factory dashboards. DivePort is available to all user tiers for Diver Solution contracts, and for DivePort and Developer user categories for Diver Platform contracts.

Diver Gateway is a multi-platform client that gives access to multiple DI Applications from one entry point. It presents KPI's and supports self-service and diving activities on a tablet, phone, or laptop.

DiveTab is a tablet-based mobile technology for self-service reporting and analysis. It works with the DiveLine server to ensure secure, controlled distribution of your data and other resources such as presentations and documents. It provides mobile users access to unstructured content and structured data through guided data navigation and one-touch access using an Android, iPad, iPhone, or PC.

Help Desk is a Windows applications that provides a subset of the Workbench DiveLine server settings for user and group maintenance, including the assignment of properties and values, and control of project access. Users with access to Help Desk do not have access to Workbench DiveLine data.

NetDiver is a browser-based, zero footprint, ad-hoc analytics interface that allows users to access and analyze their data via the web. NetDiver is available to General and Advanced users under a Solution License, and to DivePort and Developer users under a Platform license. It supports a subset of ProDiver's functionality.

ProDiver is a Microsoft Windows application that allows viewing and analysis of data with a point-and-click graphical user interface. ProDiver displays, saves, or prints the data as tabular formats, as traditional reports, or in more than four dozen graph formats. All data views are live, allowing you to dive further, and answer ad-hoc questions about the data.

Spectre is the data analysis software for the Diver Platform. It builds column-oriented databases (cBases) that cache efficiently. Spectre is used not only to build cBases—it also powers the DiveLine server software for efficient queries from DI clients against those cBases. Spectre includes a calculation engine that compiles formulas into machine code to maximize hardware utilization. The result is efficient real-time calculations for time series, dimension counts, and multitabs. Spectre can be used as a database platform: the place to not only load the data, but to perform additional ETL work.

Visual Builder is used to create Builder Description files that dictate the transformation of data into DI's classic model structure. Previously a stand alone component, Visual Builder is part of Workbench.

Visual Integrator is a graphical user interface application for creating scripts written in the Dimensional Insight Object Language. It provides the same functions as the command line Integrator, which it executes under the covers. Visual Integrator allows you to manipulate Integrator objects without the need to hand edit scripts. Previously a stand-alone component, Visual Integrator is part of Workbench.

Workbench is an integrated development environment (IDE), designed to simplify and speed up development of applications that process and present your data. Workbench uses a central project repository to manage and control the back-end building blocks. With Workbench, you can test and visually examine your data flows and processes. In addition, Workbench provides one point of entry for all your Diver Solution and Diver Platform data servers, easing the task of developing, testing, and managing multiple data projects.
