Adding Links to a Data Set

Links are used to connect one data set to another to pull in additional data. Using the Data Sets page of the Measure Factory Editor, you can identify the data set that you want to link to, select the key column to match records between the linked data set and the data set you are working on, and create link rules to choose what data to pull in.

Adding a link to a data set

  1. In the left pane of the Data Sets page, double-click the data set that you want to edit.

  2. In the center pane, click the double chevron The chevron indicating the section is closed. next to Links.

    ClosedLinks opens.

  3. Enter the name of the data set that you want to link to in the filter links from another data set or add new text box.

    The Closedname of the data set appears in the table.

    The Link name appears in the table.

  4. Click Green plus icon next to the link name.

    The link is added to the table.

  5. Double-click the link.

  6. Under Key(s) on the detail pane, enter the name of the column in the filter keys or add new text box.

    The Closedname of the column appears in the table.

  7. Click Green plus icon next to the key name.

    The Closedkey is added to the table.

  8. Save the tab.

Adding a link rule from the Data Sets page

  1. On the left pane of the Data Sets page, double-click the data set that you want to edit.

  3. Double-click the link.

  4. Under Rules on the detail pane, enter the name of a new link rule in the filter link rules or add new text box.

    The Closedname of the rule appears in the table.

    The Link rule name appears in the table.

  5. Click Green plus icon next to the rule name.

    The rule is added to the table.

  6. Double-click the link rule.

    The rule opens in the Closeddetail pane on the right, and the link opens in the center pane.

  7. Click the edit icon The pencil icon. to the right of the Calc field.

    TIP: The Edit Expression dialog box offers context suggestions for correct syntax.

  8. Enter the ClosedSpectre expression in the Edit Expression window.

  9. Click OK.

    The window closes and the calc appears in the Closeddetail pane.

  10. Optionally, click the edit icon The pencil icon. to the right of the Filter field.

  11. Enter the ClosedSpectre expression in the Edit Expression window.

  12. Click OK.

    The window closes and the filter appears in the Closeddetail pane.

  13. Expand the ClosedDocumentation section to enter additional information about the rule if your organization requires it.

  14. Click the blank section to the right of a field to edit it. When editing in the multi-line text boxes, press Ctrl+Enter or Shift+Enter to create a new line, or press Enter to apply your changes and exit edit mode.

    Click Green check mark to confirm your changes.

  15. Optionally, expand the Governance section to enter notes regarding governance. For example, who is responsible for updates, or when it was last modified.When editing in the multi-line text boxes, press Ctrl+Enter or Shift+Enter to create a new line, or press Enter to apply your changes and exit edit mode.
  16. Save the tab.
