DiveTab Connections

On the Server Side

When a DiveLine server is configured, there is a security option to disconnect idle users after a specified number of minutes. Implementation of the idle timeout is up to the DiveLine clients. As of version 7.1(13), DiveTab connections obey the idle user timeout setting in DiveLine.

This does not impact DiveTab users directly. If they press the Sync button, or do anything in the app that requires connecting to the server, DiveTab reconnects and starts a new session. However, if a user forgets to logout, the user is disconnected from the server based on the security setting.

For more information, see User Management.

On the Client Side

When a login succeeds, the DiveTab application can receive a reauthentication time that tells how long DiveTab can be inactive in the background before the user has to login again.

Once successfully logged in, DiveTab sends a keep-alive request every 90 seconds while inactive. When DiveTab becomes a background application because of inactivity and the iPad lock screen displays, it stops sending keep-alive requests.
