What Is a DimCount?

A DimCount shows the number of dimension values that apply to your specific dive. In the Console, they appear in parentheses to the right of a dimension name.

Double-click a dimension value in the dive window to view applicable DimCounts.

NOTE: DimCounts are specific to the dimension value selected in the dive window. In the following example, the DimCounts apply to salesman Paul Agate. The Customer DimCount shows that Paul sold goods to 35 customers.

  • If you double-click a different salesperson in the dive window, the Console refreshes the DimCounts to display the values that apply to the currently selected dimension value.
  • If however, you dive on Customer, the list of Paul's 35 customers appears in the dive window, and the Console clears the DimCounts until you double-click a dimension value in the new dive window.
  • If there is only one applicable value, the single dimension value appears in place of the DimCount. In the example, the Console shows that Paul is assigned to Sales Team Alpha, and Manager Keith Benett, and therefore those are the only applicable values in the Sales Team and Sales Manager dimensions.
  • If the value is null or blank, nothing is displayed next to the dimension name.

NOTE: If DiveLine security uses ACLs or Access Control conditions to limit views of some values, the DimCount appears as (Group).
