Cross Tabular Display

The cross tabular (CrossTab) display shows information that pertains to two dimensions simultaneously. The first dimension displays vertically in the first column. It is the dimension on which you are diving. The second dimension displays horizontally in the top row. You choose it when you create the cross tabular display. You also choose a single summary or info field to populate the remaining column cells. In the following example:

  • The vertical dimension is Salesperson
  • The horizontal dimension is Product Family
  • The summary (column) is Revenue

The resulting cross tabular display shows the total amount of revenue as well as the revenue specifics for each salesperson, broken down by product family.

The vertical dimension is indicated by the title of the dive window (Salesperson) and the summary is indicated in the first column heading (Revenue).

The name of the horizontal dimension (Product Family) is not included on the dive window; however, its values (Butter, Cheese, ...) are included as column headings and the dimension name appears in the Console History next to a cross tabular icon.
