Dimension-Based Functions
This function calculates the average value for the dimension summary.
To calculate: Add all the summary values, and then divide that sum by the number of values.
Syntax: DimAverage[dimension, summary]
Example: DimAverage[Ship Month, Total[Sales]]
The function in this example is equivalent to diving on Ship Month for each value in the Salesperson column, and calculating the average sales amount for each salesperson.
This function calculates the geometric mean of the dimension summary.
To calculate: n√(a1 × a2 × ... × an)
Syntax: DimGeoMean[dimension, summary]
Example: DimGeoMean[Ship Month, Total[Claims]]
The function in this example is equivalent to diving on Ship Month for each value in the Salesperson column, and calculating the geographic mean of the claims for each salesperson.
This function calculates the maximum summary value.
Syntax: DimMax[dimension, summary]
Example: DimMax[Commodity, Total [GP]]
The function in this example is equivalent to diving on Commodity for each value in the Salesperson column, and calculating the maximum gross profit for each salesperson (the largest value in the GP column).
This function dives on the dimension and calculates the median value of the summary column.
To calculate: Sort the summary values in numeric order and determine the middle value.
Syntax: DimMedian[dimension, summary]
Example: DimMedian[Supplier, Total[Sales]]
The function in this example is equivalent to diving on Supplier for each value in the Salesperson column, and calculating the median sales for each salesperson.
This function calculates the minimum summary value.
Syntax: DimMin[dimension, summary]
Example: DimMin[Ship Year, Total [Claims]]
The function in this example is equivalent to diving on Ship Year for each value in the Supplier column, and calculating the minimum claims for each salesperson (the smallest value in the claims column).
This function calculates the dimension summary number at which the percent of a distribution is equal to or below the percentile.
To calculate: Sort the summary values in numeric order, and determine the value at the specified percentile.
Syntax: DimPercentile[dimension, summary, percentile]
Example: DimPercentile[Supplier,Total[Sales],85]
The function in this example is equivalent to diving on Supplier for each value in the Salesperson column, and calculating the total sales at or below the 85th percentile for each salesperson.
This function calculates the Sample Standard Deviation of the dimension summary.
To calculate:
Syntax: DimStdDev[dimension, summary]
Example: DimStdDev[Commodity, Total [Claims]]
The function in this example is equivalent to diving on Commodity for each value in the Supplier column, and calculating the standard deviation of the claims for each supplier.
This function calculates the Population Standard Deviation of the dimension summary.
To calculate:
Syntax: DimStdDevP[dimension, summary]
Example: DimStdDevP[Commodity, Total [Claims]]
