About the Parent/Child Relationship

During each step of the diving process, you select dimensions and dimension values to narrow the focus on data until your business questions are answered. This produces a sequence of dive windows. The final dive window is a child of the preceding windows. All dive windows that are not the child, are parent windows.

Child window data is dependent on the dimension value that is selected on the parent windows. Changing a dimension value on a parent window affects the data that displays on the child window. In the following example, if you returned to the Salesperson parent window and selected a different salesperson, the child window is updated to show the data relative to the new salesperson.

There is only one child window in a dive path. Intermediate windows are not considered children of earlier windows.
