Coloring Every Other Row in a Report

This procedure describes how to enhance the readability of a report by adding alternating rows of color. It begins by creating a simple MultiTab dive window, converting the window using a default report style, and then configuring options in the Report Preferences and Edit Item, Border dialog boxes.

Complete the following steps:

  1. Select a server with a project that contains a sales model with dimensions and summaries, such as:

    • Supplier, Brand, and Ship Month
    • Cases, Revenue, and Cost

    For illustration purposes, this procedure refers to a sales model called sales_90day.

  2. In ProDiver, locate and open sales_90day.mdl.

  3. On the Console, double-click Supplier to open a basic tabular dive window.

  4. Click the MultiTab icon.

  5. On the Console, double-click Brand to open a ClosedMultiTab dive window.

  6. Click the Report icon to open the ClosedDefault Report dialog box.
  7. Perform the following steps:

    • On the Report Style box, select Indented 2 Level MultiTab.
    • If selected, clear the Gridlines check box.

  8. Click OK to display the sample MultiTab report.
  9. Click the Lock icon to unlock the report.
  10. Click the Preferences icon to open the Report Preferences dialog box.
  11. Set the Space between Columns option to 0, and click OK.
  12. Select the row values for the Brand column, and press Shift+Click to select the row values for the Cases, Revenue, and Cost columns.
  13. Right-click one the highlighted sections, and select Edit Item to open the ClosedEdit Item dialog box.

  14. Click the Border tab and perform the following steps:
  • Click Select and choose Green as the background color.
  • Select Every Other Row.
  • Click OK to Closedset the background color of every other row to green.
