Portal User and Group Settings

You can define site-wide user and group access settings in the Admin menu > User and Groups dialog box.

Option Description
Default Access

Defines the user access type assigned to DiveLine users by default.

  • User (default setting)—Users and groups access is determined by their DivePort settings.
  • Disabled—Denies portal access to users that are not administrators.

Guest User

Requires a special DiveLine license that includes the attribute GuestUserLevel = Casual or GuestUserLevel = General.

When DivePort is used with a DiveLine using such a license, you can assign an existing Casual or General user to be the guest user. This allows other users to visit the site without logging on. They can see Portlets that use DiveLine data, and they see them as if they were logged on as the person chosen as the guest user. For example, if you select Bob Smith as the guest user, other guests can access the site with the same access permissions that Bob Smith has. The purpose is to make a site that can be accessed without needing logon information.

User Lists user information, including the last access date.
Groups Lists groups and their specified access levels.
