About Time Series

You can use the DivePort time series functionality to view data from different time perspectives or to generate time-based calculations. For example, you can compare sales data for the current year with last year's sales data.

Basic Time Series

Basic time series options specify:

  • A date range, such as Month to Date or Complete Month

  • A time period, such as Current or Previous

For example, you can specify that you want to display data for the current year-to-date.

TIP: You can revert your selection by changing the time period to All.

Advanced Time Series

Advanced time series allow for further customization of the time range, including offset values.

You can specify:

  • A time range, such as the current year to complete day.

  • Whether the time series is a relative or absolute value.

  • An offset, which adjusts the time series by a specified time period.

For example, setting the Time Range to Year to complete Day, with an offset of -1 Year, is the equivalent of year to complete day from a year ago.

Comparison Time Series

Comparison time series calculates the difference between two specified time series. Typically, both time series are similar, with the difference being the offset value.

You can specify:

  • A time range, such as the current year to complete day.

  • Whether the time series is a relative or absolute value.

  • To offset, to define the first time series used in the comparison.

  • From offset, to define the second time series that is used in the comparison.

DivePort displays the difference between the two time series.

NOTE: The from offset is initially set to match the to offset plus one.

For example, setting the Time Range to Year to complete Day, with a tooffset of -1 Year, and the from offset of 0 Year shows the variance in values between last-year-to-complete-day and this-year-to-complete-day.
