About Histograms

Histograms display the distribution of numeric data across dimension values. In the following example, the histogram shows the distribution of Discharge values across age groups.

Histograms require that the data be grouped into consecutive bins. Because the data value is continuous, the chart displays without gaps between the dimension bins. For more information, see Binning Data.

When you create a histogram, you specify:

  • A dimension
  • A numeric value that has been binned by the specified dimension

Optionally, you can customize the appearance of the chart, including colors for the bars, and adding a time series.
