DivePort Terminology

Dimensional Insight uses specific terms for Diver Solution and Diver Platform components. The following list introduces basic terms used in DivePort.

cBase—Data structures, optimized for quick queries from DI clients.

cPlan—A view of cBase data with additional calculations.

Dive—A specific set of steps that are taken while querying cBase or model data. The result of a dive answers a business question.

DiveBook—A mechanism to organize markers, cPlans, and DivePlans.

DivePlan—A view of cBase data with additional calculations and categories.

Marker—A saved dive.

Model—An older type of data structure.
