Every industry breeds a specific mentality that lives within its employees. It affects how they think, work, and interact with each other. For aspiring technology professionals in Silicon Valley, they’ve seen how “bro” culture has been adopted by many and how it created a false sense of confidence among men, and a lack of confidence among women that has become synonymous with working in this field.
It seems like we’re always waiting. We wait for inspiration to move us, opportunities to come to us, and even the train ride home that is consistently late. When we want to make a change in our lives, we find ourselves repeating these familiar patterns. But what if you broke the habit?
It’s the $3.3 trillion question: how can we create a U.S. healthcare system that offers quality, patient care that is economically responsible? This is a question that people in the healthcare system have been asking for years.
Researchers Vijay Govindarajan and Ravi Ramamurti think they have a solution, and it lies overseas. Do you think you’re getting enough sleep every night? As a society, our discussions around sleep have mainly revolved around encouraging ourselves and others to get the rest we need. However, we aren’t prioritizing or maintaining good sleep habits. We hardly understand or talk about the impact sleep has on various aspects of our lives.
After thinking about sleep, the Dimensional Insight Book Club decided to read Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker. What have our readers learned about sleep? (more…)
What is culture, and why is it so important in organizations? Businesses often focus on promoting good culture and encouraging teamwork. However, how does one build and contribute to a positive company culture? We don’t talk too much about what culture means to individuals and to companies. Until now.
For the past six weeks, the Dimensional Insight Book Club has been reading The Culture Code: The Secrets of Highly Successful Groups by Daniel Coyle, whether on the beach enjoying the sun or with a cold beer to cool off. What have our readers learned about company culture? (more…)

Our discussions about the wine and spirits industry have mainly focused on the impact of technology on businesses, whether it be incorporating analytics for long-term strategic planning, gaining additional insights into sales data, or understanding consumer preferences. However, we don’t talk too much about the science behind creating the perfect drink. Until now.
The past few years have been filled with technological innovation and development, and there’s been a lot of talk about the future impact of technology across various industries. In healthcare, discussion has focused on data and analytics, artificial intelligence, blockchain, machine learning, and the potential impact of technology on patient outcomes.
As a result of these recent discussions, the Dimensional Insight Book Club decided to kick off with The Digital Doctor by Robert Watcher. For the past six weeks, we have been enjoying this first read, whether on a plane travelling to HIMSS or over a cup of tea during one of the many Nor’easters we had in Boston in March. Our first book club panel consists of George Dealy, vice president of healthcare applications; Nora Lissy, director of healthcare information; Julie Lamoureux, senior healthcare consultant; Marissa Leone, healthcare consultant; and Kathy Sucich, senior content and communications manager.
