Reflections on the St. Jude Walk/Run Boston

On Saturday, September 28th, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital held the St. Jude Walk/Run Boston. It was one of more than 60 St. Jude Walk/Runs across the country held over the last several weeks.

Dimensional Insight was proud to sponsor the event and have more than 20 of our employees staff the registration table. Here are some of my reflections on this incredible day.

The course

The event was held on Boston Common on a perfect, crisp fall morning. The Boston St. Jude Walk/Run is one of the largest in the country with 2,000 people participating.

The course took walkers and runners around the perimeter of the Boston Common for two miles. The event then finished in Celebration Village, where participants and families were able to enjoy food, fun, and music.

The cause

It was great to see so many people in one place supporting children’s cancer research. All told, the Boston event raised more than $650,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The funds go towards St. Jude’s mission of providing no-cost treatment to the children who walk through its doors. In addition, St. Jude freely shares its research with other hospitals, so the good work being done at the institution can be shared throughout the world.

More than 20 people from our Burlington and Cambridge offices, along with some of their significant others, staffed the registration tables at the event. It was so nice to be able to meet some of the walkers and runners taking part in the event and wish them well on the course. It was also great to see so many people in one place – not only the walkers and runners, but also my fellow Dimensional Insight co-workers – united in trying to raise funds to save the lives of children and help families during the most difficult time in their lives.

I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the walkers and runners who participated in this event, as well as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for the wonderful work that it does day in and day out. Finally, thank you to Fred Powers and Stan Zanarotti, Dimensional Insight’s co-founders, who truly believe in the importance of doing work that creates good in the world, and supporting that through events such as this one.
