One of the core values of Dimensional Insight is that the company at its foundation is committed to first serving its customers and its employees. Our founders, Fred Powers and Stan Zanarotti, believe that happy customers and happy employees are key to success.

Part of that belief system also includes supporting the missions of the industries we serve – which in healthcare, one of the key industries that uses Dimensional Insight technology, means a focus on improving patient care and saving lives.

That belief in supporting the central mission of healthcare organizations is why Dimensional Insight this year has decided to partner with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to sponsor its annual walk/run event in Boston. We couldn’t be more excited to participate in this great fundraiser for St. Jude and raise funds for the patients it serves.

About the St. Jude Walk/Run

Every year, St. Jude holds the Walk/Run event in cities across the United States. The Boston event, held on Boston Common, is one of the largest walk/runs in the country. This year, the Boston event hopes to raise $650,000 for St. Jude.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is one of the nation’s leading children’s research hospitals. Every year, it treats 8,500 children from all 50 states and around the world. There are many interesting things about the institution. Among those, I think these are the most important:

  • Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
  • Jude freely shares its discoveries, so every child saved there means doctors and scientists can use that knowledge to save thousands more children around the world.
  • Thanks to its research, Jude has helped push the overall survival rate for childhood cancer from less than 20% to 80% today.

Why we volunteer

While Dimensional Insight as a company believes in supporting the mission of St. Jude, many of us who are volunteering have personal reasons to do so. Here’s mine:

My dad passed away from acute myeloid leukemia three years ago. All the heartbreak my family endured – I can’t imagine a family ever going through that with a child. I volunteer for St. Jude so we can raise funds to eradicate cancer and support families going through the most difficult of times.

Elissa Mintz, junior technical writer, says:

I very much admire the work that St. Jude is doing. It feels good to be able to help out, even in this small way.

Matt Gorman, senior consultant, has this reason for volunteering:

My wife and I have a nephew with Downs syndrome and other serious health issues.  He has spent months at a time at Children’s Hospital in Boston. Every time we visited him at Children’s it was heart-breaking to see children fighting such difficult battles, and always with a smile on their little faces. The doctors and nurses that work at that hospital are absolute saints. I am sure the same holds true for St. Jude’s Hospital. We can’t think of a better cause than fighting childhood diseases.

Fred Powers, our CEO and co-founder, says:

At Dimensional Insight, we believe that success comes from servicing our customers and employees. Supporting the causes they believe in is an extension of that. We strongly support the hospital’s mission of treating all children, regardless of their ability to pay. We look forward to participating in this event to raise money for the great work being done at the hospital.
