mobile-biAnalysts project global spending on business intelligence (BI) will increase steadily over the next few years, with cloud BI projected to increase 20% in 2017. In addition, analysts project mobile BI in the global marketplace will reach 30% of the BI market by 2018. Why are these statistics so important? Because companies using analytics are five times more likely to make faster decisions. Even more exciting, the Leadership Excellence in Analytic Practices study (LEAP; released by A.T. Kearney in conjunction with Carnegie Mellon), showed that leaders of enterprises using analytics focus on collaboration in conjunction with BI, while laggards rely mainly on the technology.

Read on to learn more.

New features in DiveTab

New changes to DiveTab have provided users with a new look and a rich set of new features. Thanks to Dimensional Insight’s incredible software engineering team, user feedback has directed the latest breakthroughs in DiveTab’s functionality and usability. Besides the addition of new color and layout options, there are new tools for filtering data and real-time analysis.

So what’s new? The latest update to DiveTab includes numerous edits and additions to the software. Here are the highlights:

Cross pages

Tabular pages got a new page type that supports cross tables. With this new page type users can view one dimension across a second, with the summary data displayed in rows rather than columns, grouped and displayed for each value within the primary dimension. This is great for focusing on interactions between dimensions without having to flip back and forth between pages or scanning across numerous summary columns.

Ad-hoc editable dimensions

Ad-hoc pages now include an option to edit the displayed dimensions on-page using a pop-up dialogue box. This allows for an even quicker way of focusing in on or selecting out dimensions, providing a quicker means than sub-setting or code-editing.

In conjunction with the pop-up, there are now new options in the code to select many dimensions to be available for selection on a page, with a selected group to be displayed upon opening the page. This is great for pages that pull large amounts of data across multiple dimensions, as now you can leave those excessive dimensions and data points accessible without having them clutter up the page and affect load time when opening pages. So say goodbye to all the frustration of limiting the depth of content and analysis on a page just to make it faster and more readable.

Quick-view filter

All data pages now have the option of on-page filters that allow for quick selection of dimensions. These are applied instantly and precede all populating and calculating of values on the page. This provides a nearly instant way to add, remove, and organize dimensions on a page, all without the hassle of making new pages, using subsets, or touching any code whatsoever. And the applied filters are passed when drilling-down and editable at all stages of diving. This allows for easy on-the-fly changes at any point of data analysis.

What’s even more exciting is that more updates are already in the works and will be coming shortly. What do you think of these new updates?
