Dimensional Insight Sponsors Fact Based Survey Measuring Enterprise-Wide Use of Business Intelligence
Dimensional Insight (DI), a provider of fully integrated business intelligence (BI), reporting and analytics solutions, announced today the availability of an Aberdeen Group Research report titled, “Delivering Actionable Information to the Enterprise: Does On Demand BI Solve the Skill Set Shortage.” This benchmark study finds that organizations falling into the “Best-in-Class” category are addressing the skill set shortage by establishing training programs, contracting with 3rd party consultants and solution providers, or implementing On-Demand options such as hosted BI, SaaS (Software as a Service), and BI appliances.
Initial findings of the survey found that Best-in-Class organizations showed significant improvements in all four of the following areas over the previous two years:
- 58% have increased the time to completion
of BI projects
- 79% have increased on-budget completion
of BI projects
- 36% have decreased the cost-per-user of
BI applications
- 32% reported that increasing the number of people in the organization with relevant BI/IT skill sets directly impacted revenue
“Companies are looking for ways to address the shortage of BI skills and deliver BI applications and capabilities to geographically dispersed users with a wide range of technical skills and information requirements,” said David Hatch, Research Director at Aberdeen Group. Hatch continued, “On-Demand BI represents a new deployment methodology that seems to have taken root; best-in-class companies are now beginning to evaluate this approach in greater numbers. Companies are experiencing quicker and less costly BI implementations while lowering per-user costs and increasing impact on its revenue through focus on elevating user skill sets. Ultimately, it’s important to understand the actions and technology investments that best-in-class companies are planning to take.”
“The skill set shortage is a real challenge for many traditional business intelligence providers,” states Frederick A. Powers, President and CEO at Dimensional Insight. “Traditional approaches to BI application delivery no longer satisfy organizational needs. Dimensional Insight provides a next-generation approach that is capable of positively affecting performance by empowering users with actionable and timely information. Our fully integrated business intelligence suite provides users with a range of delivery and training options that meet the changing needs of today’s enterprise,” said Powers.
The research, based on a survey of more than 280 organizations spanning multiple industries shows readers in-depth survey results and outlines the required methodology that will allow organizations to move towards performance improvements.
