Physician performance drives both cost and quality of care, so analyzing physicians using a scorecard methodology has become increasingly popular in today's health system. This application can be used as a management tool capable of providing users with a succinct and clear snapshot of physician performance that can then be communicated directly back to each doctor and/or department head in order to improve care, lower cost, and increase revenue across the facility. This session will provide attendees with a preview of the development underway for this application.

GL ADVISOR
Dan Jablonski

The traditional role of today's Finance Department is morphing – gone are the days when simple reporting was suitable to support the decision-making process. Finance executives and their support teams are being asked to support decision-making in other areas of the business and are being pushed to provide insight on financial impact before month-end to other organizational stakeholders. Dimensional Insight's Financial Analytics application combines an intuitive dashboard interface with powerful ad hoc reporting and analysis capabilities, allowing financial managers to improve cash flow, lower costs, enhance profitability, and provide appropriate transparency to ensure compliance. This session will provide attendees with a preview of the development underway for this application.

TEAMer™ – Total Enterprise Activity Manager
Scott Tate and Tim Lindeman

In today's typical resource-constrained, rapidly changing and complex organization, managing fluid goals and activities has never been more crucial – or more difficult. Engaging in a steady barrage of status-related phone calls, email exchanges, and meetings is time-consuming, disruptive, and demoralizing – and rarely provides the visibility and insight required to effectively prioritize and manage your activities.

Now there's a solution: TEAMer – Total Enterprise Activity Manager from Dimensional Insight. TEAMer helps people at all levels in any organization to quickly and effectively share, track, analyze, and revise their fluid goals and associated activities – for optimum business results. In this session, we will provide a brief TEAMer overview and product demonstration, followed by an interactive Q&A session.

Format: Seminar
DIVEPULSE - Mobile BI onthe iPad
Stan Zanarotti and Lauren McCollem

According to Gartner, by 2013 33% of BI functionality will be consumed via handheld devices. As such, mobile access options are of primary importance to business users and executives that need anytime, anywhere access to key performance metrics. This session will provide attendees with a sneak preview of Dimensional Insight's development efforts for Apple's iPad device. Our development methodology and rationale will be discussed along with a review of the functionality that will make its way into the initial offering. Get ready to 'Go Mobile!'

geigerBEYOND DIVER: MAKING THE TRANSITION TO THE DIVER SOLUTION™ PLATFORM

Presenter: Hillary Schau, Database Programmer/Analyst, Geiger

Description: A customer for well over a decade, Geiger initially purchased Diver to satiate the information needs of a handful of power users looking for flexible ad hoc reporting and analysis capabilities. As Geiger grew, so too did their need for information. In search of a way to deliver more business-critical information to more users across the enterprise, Geiger elected to transition from the original Diver application to DI's integrated BI platform, The Diver Solution. As Geiger has more than 400 employees in 16 locations and over 450 sales partners, their transition required an in-depth understanding of the goals of each business unit and a respect for the need for seamless migration to avoid gaps in the delivery of reports and analysis capabilities that the users have come to depend on to effectively manage the business day-to-day. Attendees will be given an overview of Geiger's migration process while gaining an insider's look at both the challenges encountered and strategies used to smooth the transition. Topics covered will include:

  • Getting Buy-In from Finance - Geiger's justification rationale for the migration to the client server approach.
  • Maximizing Utilization and Adoption - Working with end users to help them work smarter by successfully altering their day-to-day use of the tool to make the best use of new features.
About Geiger: Geiger, headquartered in Lewiston, Maine, is the largest privately held promotional products distribution company in the nation. Their operation includes a manufacturing unit which produces dated products (calendars, planners, journals, and diaries) for individuals and corporate accounts. Geiger is also the publisher of the Farmers' Almanac.
SkyyBRINGING BI TO THE NEXT LEVEL: INJECTING DATA VISUALIZATION COMPONENTS INTO YOUR IMPLEMENTATION

Presenter: David Lee, Director – Sales Analytics and Insights, SKYY Spirits

Description:
In 2006, SKYY Spirits began using Dimensional Insight's On-Demand BI platform, InterReport, to provide the sales organization and management team with better transparency into product movement of their portfolio of premium brands. Driven by the need for improved visualization of key sales and inventory metrics, SKYY recently began working with Dimensional Insight to incorporate dashboards, scorecards, and other visualizations into their existing implementation. By using Diver to automate the dashboard and scorecard development process, SKYY was able to save time and resources associated with the previous, highly manual method. This session will highlight the utilization of Diver at SKYY Spirits while discussing the benefits available to users associated with integrating visual-based BI into an existing implementation. David Lee, Director of Sales Analytics and Insights at SKYY Spirits, will share lessons learned as well as some technical and infrastructure requirements that should be considered for a smooth roll-out.

About SKYY Spirits:

ConagraDEVELOPING SCORECARDS TO ANALYZE RAW MATERIAL INPUTS

Presenter:
Theresa Manahan, Project Manager – Supply Chain, ConAgra Foods

Output levels and prices in the food processing sector are directly linked to the availability and prices of the agricultural products and other raw materials used for production. Fluctuations in food product costs, demand, and many other characteristics can dictate changes in the input composition. With many variables to consider, all housed in disparate sources or ERP system modules, ConAgra elected to purchase The Diver Solution to provide members of their Supply Chain team with a better way to analyze raw material inputs in their manufacturing processes. A customer since January 2011, ConAgra developed a scorecard that allows them to easily measure commodity performance. This session will provide attendees with insight into ConAgra's decision to append Diver onto their existing ERP system, and discuss the benefits associated with this approach. Attendees will also be shown sample views from the implementation.

About Conagra:
Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, ConAgra Foods, Inc. is one of North America's largest packaged foods companies. ConAgra's products are available in supermarkets, as well as restaurants and food service establishments. Their consumer foods are found in 97 percent of America's households, with 25 of them ranked first or second in their category.
EMCBRINGING COST-EFFECTIVE, SCALABLE BI
TO EMC WITH THE DIVER SOLUTION

Presenter:
Bob Petrillo, Corporate Technical Operations Manager, EMC

Description:
In 2010, EMC rolled out The Diver Solution for a dashboard-based balanced scorecard (BSC) initiative to gain better visibility of performance within the company's 15,000-person Professional Services organization. Upon successful roll-out, Bob Petrillo and his Technical Operations team found themselves inundated with information requests from other users and departments looking for dashboard-driven BI capabilities. Using DivePort, Petrillo and his team were able to "link in" other parts of the organization with the same infrastructure used to support their initial implementation. Attendees will learn key strategies and techniques used by the Technical Operations Team that allowed EMC to build a scalable, cost-effective, enterprise-class BI solution.

About EMC:
EMC is the world's largest vendor of enterprise information storage platforms and services. The company employs more than 40,000 people and is represented by approximately 400 sales offices and scores of partners in more than 60 countries around the world.
wine groupTEACHING USERS HOW TO FISH:
TECHNIQUES USED TO BUILD A
SELF-SERVICE BI ENVIRONMENT

THIS CLASS IS NOW FULL

Presenter:
Colin Funk, Vice President, Technology, The Wine Group LLC

Description:
The Wine Group subscribes to Dimensional Insight’s On-Demand BI service, InterReport, which provides key users in sales, marketing, and management with timely access to the metrics required to efficiently track, manage, and analyze their core business. The Wine Group attributes their successful venture into the world of BI to one simple principle – the ability to leverage DI’s technology to teach their users how to fish. Instead of presenting users with static report views, which would inevitably lead to additional requests for more detailed information, The Wine Group is using Diver to provide their user community with self-service capabilities by building in multiple QuickViews and TimeSeries features into their implementation. This session will showcase how The Wine Group is leveraging version 6.3 to empower users with data-driven decision-making abilities and share execution strategies for properly incorporating these features into existing DivePort views.

About The Wine Group:
The Wine Group LLC engages in the production and distribution of wine in the United States and is the world's third-largest wine company, by volume. It produces a variety of wines sold under the Franzia, Concannon, Cupcake, Corbett Canyon, Glen Ellen, Mogen David, Fisheye, and flipflop labels. The Wine Group LLC was founded in 1981 and is based in Livermore, California
continuumUSING DIVER TO ESTABLISH A CULTURE OF PROACTIVE
DECISION-MAKING

Presenter: Allan Morales, Senior Project Manager – Financial Planning, Continuum Health Partners

Description:
Based in New York City, Continuum experiences some of the highest patient volumes and treats one of the largest concentrations of underserved patients in the country, making timely access to operational and financial KPIs a must. After having deployed financial dashboards using The Diver Solution in 2009, Continuum began brainstorming around ways to provide users with the ability to proactively impact financial and operational issues through timelier information access. As a result, Continuum developed 'The Daily Snapshot.' The application's goal was to transition users from relying solely on historical information views to using views that fostered proactive decision-making by providing insight into current metrics (i.e. physician volumes, length of stay, patient volumes) across the health system in a near realtime basis. This session will provide attendees with a better understanding of the process and rationale applied to develop and implement 'The Daily Snapshot' while also sharing views of the application that have proven to be valuable to Continuum's end user community.

About Continuum Health Partners:
Continuum Health Partners is the parent company of a New York City based nonprofit hospital system that is comprised of five historically distinguished hospitals: Beth Israel Medical Center, St. Luke's- Roosevelt Hospital, Long Island College Hospital, and The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Attendees will learn about the three levels of user licensing that control the degree of access each user has, and will work with the DI-Config tool, a Windows interface, to create Access Control Lists (ACLs) to manage users, files, and directories.
