Premier Wine & Spirits Selects Enterprise Wide Business Intelligence Tools from Dimensional InsightFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 3, 2002 Burlington, MA -Burlington, MA - Premier Wine and Spirits, one of New York State's leading distributors of fine wines and spirits, selected Dimensional Insight's (DI) business intelligence tools to serve as an enterprise wide reporting and data analysis solution for their business. Dimensional Insight's business intelligence solutions help distributors easily view and analyze period comparisons, placements, case and dollar sales, create sold/unsold reports, track promotions more effectively, and provide suppliers and retailers with customized information. Douglas J. Bernal, Premier's Chief Technology Officer, explains the issues that Premier was experiencing prior to implementing DI-Diver: "Like most other distribution companies, we have all our data in a legacy system. For a long time, there was no way to be able to extract data from that system without writing code. If the type of roll-up you wanted wasn't there or if you wanted the information sorted a different way, you had to start all over again." Premier began looking at business intelligence and enterprise information systems that would help alleviate their reporting and data analysis issues. After troubleshooting a competing tool for more than a year, Premier contacted the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America to inquire about a list of software vendors. "Once I researched Dimensional Insight, immediately I was able to see the power of the product. DI-Diver is a good tool. It's quick, customizable, and our users are able to utilize the product on their own, without having to involve the IT group. Implementing DI's solutions gave Premier the ability to provide its users with their own question-and-answer tool. They no longer have to wait a couple of days for a report - they are making more proactive decisions. Our suppliers are also benefiting from our decision to go with DI. With DI-WebDiver our suppliers can logon and view case and dollar sales, both on and off premise, " states Bernal who continues, "implementing a new enterprise-wide system can be difficult, especially if a provider refers you to an outside reseller for consulting service during the implementation process. DI has knowledgeable in-house consultants as part of their staff. Since DI's consultants understand the product and our industry they were able to get us up and running quickly." Using a simple point-and-click interface, users are given immediate access to key information enabling them to better manage and track their business, regardless of whether data originates from spreadsheets, extract files, desktop, or relational databases. Reports generated by DI-Diver are automatically refreshed as the data is updated. Each element in a report is "live," allowing the user to click on the actual report item to reveal supporting details. In addition to the purchase and implementation of DI-Diver, Premier is now in the process of implementing DI-Broadcast. A newer addition to DI's suite of products, DI-Broadcast enables users to send business information via intelligent, automated email broadcasts to internal or external recipients in PDF, HTML, or Microsoft ExcelTM text file formats. DI-Broadcast automates the delivery of business information by creating customized email messages which are sent on a client's existing email system. Bernal elaborates, "there are numerous standard reports that we are planning on broadcasting to our users. Primarily, we are interested in being able to track items that are on special at any given time. We have over 100 salespeople now. DI-Broadcast will allow Premier to push this information out to our sales force and suppliers quickly and easily."
